Success, acceptance and respect are coming from all ends for impressive 2008 debut singer Leigh Jones. Following an acclaimed performance at Sheryl Lee Ralph’s star-studded annual AIDS benefit program “Divas: Simply Singing” in Beverly Hills – a show in which she firmly held her own in a gala with vocal powerhouses such as Patti LaBelle, Lalah Hathaway, Patti Austin, Rachelle Ferrell and Angie Stone – White soul singing newcomer Leigh Jones has been tapped by superstar Eric Benet to open three major West Coast House of Blues concert dates this November.  Those dates are as follows:

Monday, November 24th - House of Blues (San Diego)

Tuesday, November 25 - House of Blues (Anaheim)

Wednesday, November 26 - House of Blues (Los Angeles)

Jones made her hard-earned recording debut with the support and blessings of soul music royalty such as Motown Records founder Berry Gordy and one-time Stax Records President Al Bell. She is now enjoying tremendous support for her debut album MUSIC IN MY SOUL (on Peak Records via the Concord Music Group) and its single “Freefall” (produced by Walter Afanasieff). The singer/songwriter received a warm reception from new believers at press, radio and retail on her September 29-October 7 promotional tour which took her to major soul music portals such as New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington D.C., Detroit and Chicago.

Duly impressed with newcomer Jones, music and radio industries legend Hal Jackson has tapped her to be the coveted sole new artist to grace the stage of the Apollo Theatre for what is being triply billed as his “25 Years of Sunday Morning Classics on WBLS-FM/69 Years in Broadcasting/Ninety-Something Birthday” extravaganza! On this amazing November 6th show, Leigh Jones will share the stage with seasoned veteran artists such as Regina Belle, Michael Henderson, Kenny Lattimore, Black Ivory, Champaign, and many more classic soul hit-makers. Her presence among these respected performers distinguishes Jones as following in their awesome lineage of artistry.

And the honors just keep pouring in!  Leigh Jones was also recently pleased to accept the 2008 “Female Artist Breakout Award” from the American Society of Young Musicians (ASYM). The ceremony , which was held October 20 at the Hard Rock Café in Las Vegas, also honored “King of the Blues” B.B. King, pop superstar Justin Timberlake, jazz diva Diane Schuur and gospel great Marvin Sapp, among others, once again placing Leigh Jones in phenomenal and esteemed music industry company.

Los Angeles-based Leigh Jones has been passionate about soul singing from her very beginnings, first inspired by the Pointer Sisters, later gravitating toward Ella Fitzgerald, Natalie Cole, Etta James, Rufus featuring Chaka Khan, Whitney Houston and, particularly, Mariah Carey. She’s been toiling on the North Hollywood and Los Angeles nightclub scene, honing her craft and making connections for almost a decade now, which makes her MUSIC IN MY SOUL resonates with conviction and purpose. The album features production by Wayman Tisdale (a juicy cover of DeBarge’s “All This Love”), songs by the prolific Bruce Fisher (including the sultry cheating primer “Same Game”) and artistic direction by Kerry Gordy. Now that it’s out, Leigh is all set to sing her heart out, making new believers with every opportunity.

“Going through the hard times really kept me in check,” she confesses, “made me hungry. Now all I want to do is gig every night – two shows a night – because it’s all I’ve ever wanted to do.”

MUSIC IN MY SOUL now in stores on CD.
