About The San Diego Jazz Musicians Guild

The San Diego Jazz Musicians Guild, Inc. was inspired by the rich history of Jazz in San Diego. The vision is devoted to "Building bridges across the global liberal arts community, through Jazz." As students of the arts, it is essential for us to come together in order for the art form to grow even further. Our city is full of Jazz artists, and growing every year. Jazz in and of itself has been declared "The one true American art form" by legislation. In light of our current economic struggle it is even more important for all artists to help support each other's work, so we can continue to create and inspire.

The specific purpose of this organization is to: provide opportunities for artists to support the global liberal arts community; raise awareness of the importance of Art in all forms; support and encourage a higher quality of Jazz Education, appreciation and understanding in the community. We will achieve this through outreach programs, research of the local jazz scene and history, community service, live music and free events that incorporate all facets of the artistic community. Through these programs our community can continue to grow, develop and thrive.
