The 2010 Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival | July 30th - Aug. 8th
Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival 2010
Edinburgh Castle dominates the city-centre skyline and from its ramparts you can look down on medieval lanes and elegant, sweeping terraces that hold over a thousand years of history, mystery and tradition.
Yet you will also see a modern, dynamic capital where international festivals attract the world's leading performers, galleries display cutting-edge art, and bars, restaurants and clubs create a lively, cosmopolitan atmosphere with a distinctly Scottish twist.
Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival takes place July 30th through August 8th.
Roger Spence (Producer) enthuses about Laura Macdonald and Martina Almgren's Oh Yeah Orchestra, which also featues the amazing Staffan Svensson (trumpet), Karin Burman (vocals) and Joakim Milder (saxophone)--he describes it as: “feminine, bubbly jazz."
Toby Shippey and Joe Malik recreate the Lizzard Lounge the seminal club that was held in the basement of Cafe Graffitti -why not dance the night away in the company of Fred Wesley, Ty, The Rumba Caliente Afro Latin Soul Orchestra and with hosts Joe Mail, Simon Hodge and Jim Bathgate.
Canned Heat play their first Scottish date in fifteen years. They shot to fame headlining the orginial Woodstock Festival and are best known for their two hits: “On The Road Again" and “Going Up The Country"--check them out in the intimate surrounds of the Queen's Hal.
Tickets are going quicky for cover star, China Moses with her impeccable Dinah Washington tribute.
