The Rhythm & Blues Fest (formerly the Greater Philadelphia Blues Fest Block Party) has been one of the funkiest community events of Philadelphia since its creation in 1997. The Rhythm & Blues Fest is a unique opportunity for the community of West and Southwest Philadelphia to come together to enjoy great music, food, and family-friendly activities. It also serves to further the Partnership CDC’s message of affordable housing, economic development and job creation to those in West and Southwest Philadelphia by celebrating the power our community has when we all work together.

September 18th will be a very eventful day! There will be many different opportunities to eat, shop and listen to great music. You’ll meet different community groups interested in bettering our community- allowing you to learn more about the resources that can help you in Philadelphia. The Parntership CDC is also fully committed to greening Philadelphia, and there will be an area dedicated to sustainable communities so that you can learn effective tools to make your life more green and healthy. Also, a section of the block will be marked off as the Kid Zone: a safe and fun place for the children to play. Our Kid Zone this year will be fully equipped with a moon bounce, the Philadelphia Zoo on Wheels, a special appearance from Princess Tiana (the character from Disney’s The Princess & The Frog), clowns, lots of face paint, and much more! In past years we have had artists and performers such as: Philadanco , The Nate Murray Band and Denise King. Also, the winner of our 2010 Rhythm & Blues Talent Search will have the chance to command the stage. Our headliner this year will be Kindred the Family Soul, who will perform some of their greatest hits on September 18th. Please come back for the most up to date information on our star-studded line-up! Music is known as the universal unifier, and the Rhythm & Blues Fest demonstrates that aspect as live performances bring together the differing members of Philadelphia in celebration.

The Rhythm & Blues Block Party is free and open to the public, creating a fair-like atmosphere in West Philadelphia that you don’t want to miss.
